Difference & Operation Points of Front Panel Mount vs Rear Panel Mount for Connectors

Core Criterion of Installation Selection

  • Maintenance Convenience + Aesthetic Requirement + Structural Stability : The choice between front and rear panel mounting is determined by on-site maintenance needs and equipment appearance requirements, while ensuring the firmness of installation to avoid loosening caused by vibration.

Mounting Type Differences & Application Scenarios

Front Panel Mount

The connector is inserted from the front side of the panel , and the fixing nut is tightened from the rear side. It features convenient on-site disassembly and maintenance (no need to open the equipment casing), making it ideal for scenarios requiring frequent maintenance and inspection.

Rear Panel Mount

The connector is inserted from the rear side of the panel , and the fixing nut is tightened from the front side. There is no exposed nut structure on the panel surface, resulting in a neat and aesthetic appearance, suitable for equipment panels where appearance is a priority.

Octopusconn Installation Recommendations & Standards

Panel thickness requirement: ≤ 5mm

Fixing accessory: Use matching anti-loosening nut

Installation test standard: Tensile test ≥ 50N to ensure no loosening

Technical Note: For both front and rear panel mounting, ensure the panel hole size matches the connector to avoid installation gaps that affect protection performance; tighten the anti-loosening nut with a torque wrench (recommended torque: 1.5-2N·m) to prevent panel deformation from over-tightening or loosening from under-tightening; for connectors used in high-vibration scenarios, recheck the torque regularly to ensure long-term installation stability.
